COVID-19 UPDATE:
Due to the current situation, we have had to close our coworking hub and physical space. We plan to launch an online membership soon that offers support and helps freelancers connect, even if that is digitally or through hybrid events. In the meantime, please do request a freelance profile or join our Brighton Coworking Facebook community for updates.
FRiBE Hove Hub | Members Coworking
There are some great coworking environments in Brighton and Hove, so many in fact why on earth would you need us? Well, despite many of them are so popular and a monthly contract model leads to the same faces and over time, which leads to a feeling of ‘work’ over collaboration. We wanted to create a space where every single day is different. The FRiBE Hove Hub is a workspace with sea views and a collaborative approach to coworking. There are no permanent desks or rentals, the space is a benefit for FRiBE community subscription members. Scroll down to find out how you can join.
What to expect
The FRiBE Hove Hub is based in an office building near Palmeira Square on the 8th floor. The building does look a little shabby chic on the outside, but it’s worth it when you get to the top! There’s a lift to the 7th floor, so there is one small flight of stairs to climb. This is when you will get that “oooh” moment with the first glimpse of the view (pictured).
sea views across hove
It’s a modest space with 4 desks and the additional option for 2 seated coworkers on the centre table. The view is panoramic across Hove seafront, which means it’s very light. We have a shared kitchen and fridge with our own cupboard shelf full of coffee and tea options. There’s also a kettle and a microwave. There are separate men’s and women’s toilets on the same floor. Lockable storage is available for anyone that wants to keep equipment onsite.
Who is the space right for?
You could be working from home and feeling isolated, cafe coworking and tired of buying guilt-trip coffees (and too many cakes) or have a coworking membership elsewhere and need a change of scene.
It’s perfect for anyone who wants to get their work done alongside other freelancers in a beautiful light room with a sea view and a good measure of chat and collaborative support in between. The environment naturally lends itself to creatives who want to change the world or be in a space that inspires original thought. You might be a:
Freelance digital writer or content producer
Freelance designer or brand consultant
Freelance content strategist or digital marketer
Founder or entrepreneur with original concepts
Freelance journalist, magazine editor or news writer
Employed creative remote working
It’s not right for anyone who is either anti-social or needs complete silence. It also won’t work for anyone who spends a lot of time on the phone or in video meetings. There are also currently no meeting room options (beyond booking the whole space in advance) or separate areas to make calls. That said, we are quieter in the mornings and have 24/7 access so use of the space in quieter times could be arranged. There are also further desk rental options available on the same floor that could offer you an alternative option.
Will I get any work done?
What’s been great about running the space without monthly rental is the incredibly different energy of each day. We all have things to do and if we get carried away we agree to set some focused blocks of time so we still get our work done!
We’re all in it together…
… so if you let the team know you have a deadline or are under pressure, not only we will make an effort not to distract you, we might be able to support you with some tools to get it done faster and lend a hand! To date we’ve all helped each other in various ways, including:
Proofing work and offering suggestions
Dealing with a difficult client
Pitching for work and providing a quote
Building confidence and shifting imposter syndrome
Talking through work life balance and solutions
Time management tips and suggested tools
Positioning as a freelancer and up skilling

How it works
We don’t offer permanent desks or hours based monthly rentals. Use of the space is a benefit of the FRiBE freelance membership, which has subscriptions available from £20-£120 per month. It’s important that we create the right environment for our members and limit numbers, so not all applicants will be accepted.
